Bee Balm - What are you waiting for?

Add some spark to your life! Bee Balm encourages you to let go of inhibitions, cut loose, be passionate and sing your song at the top of your lungs...WITHOUT JUDGEMENT. Every day is a gift worth celebrating. Bee Balm reminds you to show up and embrace the potential of your own life—no excuses!

There is a deep belief that many of us subscribe to that life is hard. Not only do you have to work hard, everything is hard work...and then you die. Or something along those lines. We prep our children from a very early age about how hard life in fact is, and what they must do in order to get ahead.

We work hard to make money to make our lives comfortable, to pay the bills and, if we are lucky, pay for a vacation or two so that we can escape from time-to-time from our “successful” busy, overscheduled lives that we have created for ourselves.

The daily grind starts younger and younger and carefree childhoods are quickly becoming a thing of the past. Becoming “successful”, or "being a success" is so ingrained, it seems, that many never realise the incredible gift, the incredible joy that life is actually supposed to be.

We have our heads down and our blinders on absorbed in the unpredictable and scary future, just trying to survive right? But what about thrive?

I’ve long bucked the system. Trying to do things my own way. Going with and doing what feels right for me even though it’s not the norm. And yet it has felt, more often than not, like I am desperately trying to keep my head above water as I swim upstream. And it’s not like my choices and actions have exactly led to an ease-filled, joy-filled, financially comfortable situation either. The question is why?

Bee Balm says, “Duh! It is because, while you have always found your own path and your own way of doing things, your underlying motivation has always been to meet the needs and desires of external sources. To sing the songs of others as best as you can rather than singing your own unique song. You worry what others will think of your song. And so you have been waiting and waiting for so long for the perfect time to sing, that along the way you eventually forgot what your song sounded like.” (Note past tense…)

This past month has been experience upon experience of me feeling challenged to assert my worth, to speak my truth, to walk my talk if you like, and to understand that by doing so I do not harm or upset the natural balance of my life, or ruin the lives of others.

In fact, I couldn’t feel more empowered or more aligned or more in the beauty of present moment. To be honest it truly makes me wonder why I have waited so long to do so. And so this leads me to purpose...

Everyone it seems is trying to figure out what their purpose is in life and more often than not that purpose is tied into what we do for a living. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could figure out that one thing that provides meaning and joy to our life, and make money at the same time?

“Woah, the pressure.” says Bee Balm.

I graduated with a degree in Graphic Design and Marketing and have spent the majority of my adult life working in that field as a freelancer. But it has always been the plants and the gardens that have fed my soul and made my heart sing.

So much so that Soulflower, when it finally came into being, was no less than an external manifestation of the inner workings of my heart. The journey to embrace it, to allow it to flow, to let it out, all of it, has been the work of my life. Is Soulflower my purpose? Perhaps. But I think of it more as a vehicle for my sacred soul's purpose in this lifetime.

My soul purpose is broader and far bigger than a simple career parameter. So is yours.

Bee Balm says every day is a gift worth celebrating...a GIFT! I think it’s time to stop thinking about our life's purpose in terms of work and perhaps think about it in terms of our gifts.

What is unique about you and what you bring to the world? What makes your heart and soul sing? What is your heart’s desire? Does this vibration resonate with your outer world and how you show up in it?

Soulflower Gift

My GIFT is that I see, clearly, the divine that resides in all beings, animal, plant and mineral. My GIFT is to see the truth.

I have often been judged for being unrealistic, pie in the sky, no way there is heaven here on Earth. But it is my very nature to look for the beauty and love, to see the light in all life. So how can I deny it? Stifle it even? But I did, I have.

My WORK then is to see that beauty and magic and love in myself and to share it and reflect it back at others so they may see it and know it in themselves too.

My PURPOSE then is to share my gifts as a mother, as a friend, as a gardener, as a teacher, as a lover, as an artist, as a graphic designer and countless other ways that are too numerous to mention.

Bee Balm says it’s time to show up!! No more excuses about timing or neatly defining your purpose or whatever else that is holding you back.

It’s time to show up and embrace the potential of your own life and life itself in fact. It’s time.

Can you feel the energy vibrating in your heart? Can you feel the mixture of fear and excitement as you finally step out of the shadows into the spotlight? Can you feel the sense of relief as you finally open your mouth and out pours the incredible divine song that is yours and yours alone?

I don’t know about you, but I feel it. And I am ready, with all my heart to sing it loud, to sing it proud and to create the kind of life that I don’t need, or even want, to take a vacation from.

“Time is growing short. There are unexplored adventures ahead of you. You can’t live the rest of your life worried about what other people think. You were born worthy of love and belonging. Courage and daring are coursing through you. You were made to live and love with your whole heart. It’s time to show up and be seen." ~ Brené Brown

Over the years, the Soulflowers have lovingly helped me to understand change to be the natural order of things. They have helped me to trust completely in the inherent intelligence of Nature and the necessity of all the seasons to support life, sustainably.

We are cyclical beings. Life (life force energy) is never lost—it is only constantly changed, transformed.

This is my work—growing my response ability to the world around me—so that I can contribute and support the whole from a place rooted in wisdom, love and unity consciousness, rather than from a place of reaction, guilt and unexpressed pain. Having a place of sanctuary and calm within may make all the difference for peace to prevail in the world
